Rafael Gonzalez Cigars
Rafael Gonzales cigars are a success story from the roaring '20s. Dating from about 1928, this brand was initially developed as La Flor de Marquez. The brand was actually created by the MArquez Rafael Gonzalez and was distributed by George Samuel and Frank Warwick of Great Britain. The brand was acquired in 1936 by the Sociedad El Rey del Mundo. Trademark records show it's current name dates from 1945.
Considered mild in body, Rafael Gonzales cigars are also reputed to have introduced the Lonsdale size, named in honour of Hugh Cecil Lowther, the Fifth Earl of Lonsdale. is picture appeared on the inside of most boxes into the 1980s. Perelman's Pocket Cyclopedia of Havana Cigars Thrid Edition
