Great Lonsdale. Nice sheen on its Colorado wrapper, the smoke exhibited much of the tannins and mineral notes that you could hope to find within a Partagas of this age.
Immediately complex upon first puff, earth, black pepper and a hop-like mineral note are all immediately noticeable, with the faintest sweetness, though this was mostly found on the wrapper. Medium in body until virtually the end, this smoke evolves heavily profile wise, displaying a fuller black pepper note, dark chocolate, coffee beans and green tea around the halfway mark, yet the peppery aspect never becomes overpowering or causes any notable imbalance. The final third saw the pepper, chocolate and coffee notes overridden slightly by a quality resembling brown toast, and a subtler than normal hint of classic Partagas spice. Fantastic smoke, and at a great age to be enjoyed fully.
