Cuba’s Día de la Independencia Event - Thursday 9th October 6:30pm

We’re delighted to host another evening to pay homage to one of Cuba’s greatest ever exports, Habanos Cigars. Usually, it’s the traditional pairing of Cuban cigar with Cuban rum, but this time we are going unconventional, instead presenting one of our favourite cigars to pair with one of our favourite drinks. Tequila.

The cigar is one of their most underrated cigars, Vegas Robaina Unicos. The Unicos has always been consistent in its profile and for that reason it is the favourite Piramide for my cigar enthusiasts. Our resident Master of Habanos, Nic Barker says “Unconventional, well balanced, full of flavour and character. The cigar is distinctly smooth and spicy from the start, which remains throughout. In time, the underlying mineral note becomes more obvious as does the leather, which becomes the dominant note heading into the middle of the smoke and into the finish.” 

A rich medium-to-full bodied blend, the Unicos is one of the symbols of tobacco farming excellence. Since 1845 the Robaina family has farmed tobacco continuously on its precious vegas (fields) at Cuchillas de Barbacoa situated in the San Luis district of the Vuelta Abajo tobacco zone. Vegas Robaina cigars were introduced in 1997 as a tribute to Cuban tobacco farmers through the figurehead of Don Alejandro Robaina whose reputation in his day for producing the finest wrapper leaves was legendary.
