H.Upmann Magnum 52 (Habanos Year of the Tiger 2022 Release)

H.Upmann Magnum 52 is the 2022 cigar for the new Chinese Zodiac year – The Year of the Tiger. This is the third release in as many years to commemorate the occasion of the Chinese New Year, which would suggest this yearly special release is here to stay. It follows on from the Hoyo de Monterrey Primaveras 18 for the Year of the Ox in 2021 and the inaugural release, Romeo y Julieta Maravillas 8 for the Year of the Rat in 2020.

The cigar was confirmed back in early April and was immediately launched via a ‘virtual unboxing’ in Hong Kong and ultimately within the Asia Pacific region, with retailers across the world expected to be allocated boxes in the subsequent months. We started to see boxes appear in a few premium shops in Europe, so we are delighted have finally received them from  Hunters and Frankau, guaranteeing their EMS status . Habanos S.A like to celebrate their new releases with their cigar launches often spread throughout the different distribution regions. We witnessed this as Limassol, Cyprus hosted the launch of the eagerly anticipated Cohiba 55 Aniversario Limited Edition 2021.

The Magnum 52 is 5 7/8’’ (148mm) x 52, a robusto extra in general, and is the first cigar of this vitola. Just like the Maravillas and Primaveras, the Magnum 52 box count will have an 8 in its amount, with the former two being 8 and 18 respectively. Eight is considered to be the luckiest number in Chinese culture because it is associated with wealth. . The cigars will come in an immaculate hexagon-shaped red lacquered box with a hinged-lid opening. And just like the previous Habanos Chinese New Year cigars, the Magnum 52 will have a special band of the zodiac animal at the foot of the cigar.

The Magnum 52 is the latest addition to H. Upmann’s Magnum cigar series. The current portfolio includes Magnum 46, Magnum 48 (Edición Limitada 2009), Magnum 50 (EL 2005, but now regular line), Magnum 54 and special editions of the Magnum 56 (presented in jars for travel retail and duty-free and an Edicion Limtada 2015). There is also the Super Magnum created for the 2020 Colección Habanos presentation, but that has yet to reach the UK market.

After months of anticipation we are delighted to have the Magnim 52 finally in stock. Beautifully presented in a hexagon-shaped luxury red lacquered box, the Magnum 52 is comes in boxes of 18 cigars. This release has a limited edition count of 8,888 boxes. We have boxes available in at our St James's Flagship, La Casa del Habano James J Fox - Harrods and The Cigar Room - Selfridges.
