An aficionado level evening took place on Thursday 16th May as a pairing of the highest quality was put together at James J Fox. Sampling one of the most renowned Habanos cigars, the Partagas Lusitania, and pairing with a selection of Craigellachie Whisky, guests were offered one of our greatest pairings to date.

Sensational is the word that comes to mind and for many a reason. The Partagas Lusitanias were sensational. The flavour, the draw of each one, the colour of the wrapper, everything about the cigar provided the perfect cigar sampling experience. Then the whiskies starting with the highball cocktail featuring the Craigellachie 13, guest were then treated to some sensational drams of the 17 (India’s personal favourite whisky), 23 and the extraordinary 37. We were delighted to be joined by the amazing India Blanch, Whisky Ambassador for Bacardi. Her expertise on Craigellachie enabled us to find the amazing flavours within the whisky.

Craigellachie 23

The extra years resting in oak allows for further flavor development in the 23 Year Old. Vanilla moves to the palate, spices and menthol notes emerge and charred pineapple intensifies.

Craigellachie 17

Crafted from a rarer blend of casks, Craigellachie 17 is a classic example of our unapologetic and distinct Whisky style, smooth and mellow in flavour with rich silky notes of exotic fruits.

Nic Barker, our resident Master of Habanos, engaged the crowd with finding out how they’re enjoying this particular box of Lusitanias. But if that wasn’t enough, guests were treated to one last whisky at the very end – Craigellachie Exceptional Single Cask 2007 Edition.

To add to an amazing evening we also brought in some amazing cheese and charcuterie grazing platters from Grape and Fig. An exceptional display on the eye and just as impressive on the palate.

Our friend James Pham, founder of JPHA was also in attendance, as he collaborated with us for this exclusive evening. The Craigellachie 37 as well as the entire collection of Craigellachie expressions are available through his online retail store www.jpha.co.uk. We were also fortunate to have Gabriel from L’Amateur de Cigare (IG: @cigarsconnect) join us on the evening to talk to our guys about the pairing.

Thank you to all who joined us for the evening. It was a great evening for the cigar and whisky aficionado. India and David will be back for another event later in the year, but for now, our next event is now live online and it is guaranteed to be another fantastic evening.
