On Wednesday 18th October 2023 we were delighted to introduce the Fox House Blend Churchill to the cigar world. It is the third vitola of the collection after the initial launch of the Fox House Blend with the Robusto (4 7/8’’ x 50) and the Cañonazo (6’’ x 52).

The Churchill is the continuation of the excellent work being undertaken by our friend and renowned master blender, Hamlet Paredes. Overseeing the operations at Oscar Valladares factory in Danli, Honduras, Hamlet has ensured the cigars have been rolled to the highest of standards.

We have been delighted with the feedback received from customers regarding the Robusto and Cañonazo, which means we are very confident our cigar enthusiasts will love this Churchill. It is all very subjective, but this particular blend in the Churchill format works immensely well.

It is a medium-to full bodied cigar, but perhaps a little less intense than the Robusto and Cañonazo. It starts milder in the first third, with a degree of sweetness and the clean tobacco taste being dominant before the earthy notes and hints of spice start to come through. As the cigar evolves, as expected, and as it get closer to the final third, the strength and flavours begin to deepen.  

For the launch of the Churchill, we were treated to a truly memorable Q&A session with Hamlet Paredes and Rob Fox. The two men have been friends for around two decades and it was evident as the time just flew during the evening. Joining us for the spirits element of the evening was Hemil Haria from The Lakes Whisky.

We were delighted to have Hamlet and Hemil join us as guests, as well as our team, were left in awe with the high level of expertise joining us on the evening.

Hemil’s recommendations for the evening were for two different drams. We opened with the The Lakes Whiskymaker’s Reserve No.7 with the second dram being the Whiskymaker’s Edition Infinity, coming at the end of the middle third.

It was an amazing opportunity to meet one of the cigar industry’s vibrant characters in Hamlet. We ran over time but could have easily stayed for another two hours with the knowledge and anecdotes Hamlet and Hemil had to share with us. But rest assured, both gentlemen will join us again in 2024 for sampling events at James J Fox.
